Evaluation

I was asked to look at Preston, and what Preston meant to me. Preston to me is all about my family, and the generations of roots i have here, i have family going back 8 or 9 generations that all lived and died in preston, so I then decided to explore that, look at how they lived here, and possibly where they died. In doing this i spent a lot of time in Preston's Cemeteries, and realised how quiet and peaceful they are, and with that realisation, i decided to take pictures in the cemetery, of the headstones in there.

My work was fairly simple and completed quickly, so i had lots of time to edit my images, and try a few different ideas, using the cutout tool i created almost cartoony images from what i'd taken, but i felt that was straying too far from my original idea, and wanted to bring it back, so even though i thought about heavily editing my photographs, i decided to leave them almost un-processed, and as simple as possible.

If i was to go back, and attempt this project again, i would possibly take more time exploring the cemeteries, looking for more graves, in more prominent places, maybe even ones with more interesting people on it. I would have also liked to get people stood behind the graves, dressed in the correct attire, and fade them out, almost as if the ghost of the person buried there was standing over their grave, i think that would be a jarring and uncomfortable set of images that i think could be something very interesting.
